This summer the European Capital of Culture 2026 offers a variety of guided tours around the city in English. Join a walk, meet new people and experience the city’s history, art and nature with a guide. See the tour dates for the summer!

Art enthusiasts can join the English-language exhibition tours at Oulu Art Museum: Join Tomorrow’s Wardrobe and learn more about the contemporary perspectives on fashion, sustainability and the future. The museum offers tours to explore the works of the GLACIER exhibition by the leading Japanese couture designer Yuima Nakazato.
Art lovers can also discover the extensive art collection of the University of Oulu through a series of English-language Art Tours beginning on 29 August. The guided tours provide a unique perspective on the university’s public artworks and cultural heritage.
For those interested in Oulu’s sights, the Oulu Region Tourist Guides host the Oulu Highlights walking tours on 15 and 29 July. The walks take you to the city’s history, architecture and key landmarks.
Nature and environmental art are highlighted through Pikinen Poloku‘s guided experiences in Pikisaari, Oulu. On 4th July, visitors can explore the area’s environmental art trail, while the Nature Guide tour on 9 August introduces participants to local flora, fauna and the surrounding natural environment.
Visitors looking for something more mysterious can join the popular Ghosts and Crimes walking tour on 22 July and 5 August. This atmospheric evening tour uncovers Oulu’s darker history through tales of crimes, legends and unexplained events.
In addition, guided visits to the Sanginkontu Art Trails will take place on selected dates from 29 July onwards. Located in the Sanginsuu area, roughly 20min drive east from the city center, the trails combine contemporary art with the beauty of the surrounding forest landscape.
