The goal of the Oulu Culture Foundation is to create and bring culture, well-being and vitality to the northern region together with 39 northern municipalities and cities. Our shared goal is cultural climate change; we are building an unforgettable European Capital of Culture 2026, but above all, creating lasting positive impacts in our region.
At the Culture Foundation, work tasks are varied, ranging from event production and administrative duties to communications, marketing, and project coordination. While the Foundation oversees the programme, the actual content for 2026 will be brought to life by the hundreds of creators selected through the open calls.

We are actively working towards the year 2026, when Oulu will take on the title of European Capital of Culture, and our northern region will be filled with culture, art, and events of all sizes. To prepare, communicate and coordinate this busy year, we need experts from many different fields.
Volunteering
We are developing the Oulu2026 Volunteering Programme, which will offer a variety of ways to get involved in the European Capital of Culture. Volunteers will play an important role in bringing the culture programme to life, and driving forward the cultural climate change. This is your chance to actively contribute while getting exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the programme. Summer Jobs
