Youth-Led “Kesästartti Väiskissä” Kicks Off the Summer in Oulainen

Young people from Oulainen and nearby areas will celebrate the end of the school year in style at the newly renovated Väinölänranta event park, as the Kesästartti Väiskissä event takes over the area on Saturday, May 30.

School Closing Celebration Features Artists Chosen by Young People   

The stage lineup includes an exciting selection of current rap artists. Helsinki-based DAVI is known for his melodic trap sound and several tracks with millions of streams, including ExitKYSYY, and Rakastunu Gangstaan. 

Meanwhile, Brakston, emerging from Northern Ostrobothnia, represents the energy of a new generation of rap and has impressed audiences with confident live performances. Brakston has released his debut studio album Mun Kengis, and his DJ is Oulu-based DJ Cherry. The rest of the evening’s music programme will be provided by DJ Temu. 

In addition to music, the event offers activities and experiences throughout the evening. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities as well as products from local food vendors. 

Kesästartti Väiskissä is part of the Oulainen Children’s and Youth Cultural Weeks and the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme. The event has been supported by Oulaisten Musiikkiviikot, OP Jokilaaksot, and Rieska-Leader (Youth Leader). 

The evening’s programme has been designed by young people themselvesMembers of the Oulainen Youth Council are involved in organizing the event, and the visual identity has been created by young Oulainen-based graphic designer Jere Huttula. 

The free event is especially intended for youth aged around 12 and up, while welcoming young people of all ages.
