The Long Table Dinner invites you to feel the atmosphere and culture of the city at a shared dining table. We are setting a 75-metre-long table on Hallituskatu. Grab your friends, co-workers, family, or come on your own to eat with others. Sit back and relax with your own delicacies or enjoy the delicious takeaways from local restaurants.
We set the table and make the program with great partners! The event is organized with Korttelihaipakka, Oulun Liikekeskus, Rotos ry and Oulu Art’s Night.

Together at the Long Table Dinner
OSAOs horticulture students together with florist Pasi Kivilompolo decorate the long table with a 75-meter-long flower garland. You can come and see the process during the event day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Teaching restaurant Hilkku and its’ students have renewed local food traditions and designed ‘rössyramen’ tasting dishes for the event. Terwa Food Truck will cruise to the event with their food truck, where you can grab a delicious meal. The menu includes burgers, hot dogs, and fries.
Osuuskunta Yrttiaika is celebrating its 10th anniversary by guiding visitors through the world of wild herbs in their celebration tent, engaging multiple senses. Enjoyable flavors and event offers available!
Oulun Liha- ja Kalakauppa is setting up a pop-up restaurant at the Long Table Dinner setting, offering the chance to buy Oulu’s best salmon soup and fried vendace.
Chocosomnia brings on the delights again at Hallituskatu. From Chocosomnia’s booth you can buy lovely tasting plates of assorted chocolates with coffee for dessert.
Cocktail Company joins the evening with their Mocktail Bar -cart. It’s and experience on wheels offering non-alcoholic cocktails. Each drink is a piece of art that delights you both visually and through it’s flavours.
Lunch restaurant Makoisa brings a tasty greeting to the event from Nuorten Työpajat (Youth Workshops).
Finland-Russia-society’s Oulu-division offers Borsch-soup at the Oulu2026-tent.
Gigs and coffee
Rotos ry brings artists to the stage each hour starting at 5 p.m. The artists are Escapism (at 5 p.m.), Antti A (at 6 p.m.), Rakas Paheeni (at 7 p.m.), Hennicki (at 8 p.m.) and Edunvalvojat (at 9.pm.)
In the direction of downtown from the event venue is the communal and cozy Konsta, a place for performances and get-togethers. Folk music group Rällä‘s new music video will be premiered in Konsta – come and see the screening and enjoy some coffee and pancakes! There will also be live music – activities at Konsta will take place at around half past each hour.
Art & vintage
Nuorten Taide ja mediapaja (Youth’s Art & Media Workshop) are holding a potato workshop where you can create art with a potato from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sally’s Vintage shop aims to dress the world better both ethically and in style. Come and find the cute boutique at the Long Table Dinner.
Come thrift with us! There will be individual second hand sellers at the event as well as an alternative thrift shop by Underground Store.
Tasty offers on Hallituskatu
Kreikkalainen Ravintola Gaia offers pita burgers that take you straight to Greek flavours. The restaurant is open during the event.
Kotipizza has special offers so you can enjoy their menu at the long table. Kotipizza is also open until 10 p.m.
Samba Cafe serves tasty café products and is open all night.
Underground Store is open until 10 p.m. There will be piercing and product offers during the evening. By spinning the wheel of fortune, you can win a candy bucket. There are also balloons and lollipops.
Pelimies has offers during the event and is open until 10 p.m.
In addition, you can come and get balloons from the Oulu2026 space.

What will happen in the European Capital of Culture year 2026? Come and talk to the Oulu2026 team members at the former Levykauppa Äx premises near the table setting.
In the space you can also grab a selfie in our photo frame, get to know the photography exhibition of the Youth Art and Media Workshop and participate in a mailbox installation.
Kulttuuriosuuskunta Ilme is a multidisciplinary cultural cooperative that aims to increase society’s well being through equally accessible art. Timo Harju from ILME brings his art work “Heippa, tuntematon Erityinen” (“Hello, Unknown Special”) to the Long Table Dinner. It is a community artwork where people write letters to each other through a mailbox installation.
Each participant is allowed to choose a letter from a mailbox installation written by one unknown person if they write their own letter to another unknown person.
Accessibility of the event
Passage to the venue and at the event: The event is held on the street. All the main routes to the venue are wide and accessible, which ensures easy movement in a wheelchair or with a baby stroller. Moving in the event area is also smooth. There are no thresholds or stairs at the venue.
Wheelchair seats are reserved around a long table.
There are a few child seats in the vicinity of the table.
Parking: Accessible public parking spaces can be found near the event. They have a short and easy access to the event area. Public transport stops are also accessible and are located close to the venue.
Accessible WC: Accessible WC is located in Gaia Greek Restaurant in the immediate vicinity of the event. It is equipped with assistive devices suitable for people with reduced mobility and entry to the restaurant is accessible.
Assisting persons: Assisting persons are present to help with moving when needed and to guide in finding accessible routes. They are recognized by their brightly colored vests.
Local flavours and experiences
Arctic Food Lab is a programme that brings forth the ingredients that have grown under the Oulu2026 region’s Northern sky, and the uniqueness of traditional food born under arctic circumstances.
