The female choir Säkenöivä! fills the Kemi Areena with rock on Saturday 2nd May 2026. There will be a flashy arena show with a variety of rock songs in Finnish and English. You can also hear several members of the choir as  vocalists. Also Tony Kakko, well-known from Sonata Arctica, will visit briefly on the stage! The choir is led by Samuli Kakko and the band comes from Oulu.

Säkenöivä! arranges a flashy ROCK concert at Kemi Areena on the 2nd May 2026 at 18:00. It is not just an ordinary choir concert but an arena show combining a 4-voiced female choir, an energetic rock band, great visuality and arena atmosphere.

The choir performs well-known rock songs, from pop-rock to power ballads. The set includes songs from Haloo Helsinki, Maija Vilkkumaa, Nightwish and Queen, among others.

Säkenöivä! is led by Kemi-based multitalent Samuli Kakko. In the band play Tero Kemppainen (keyboard), Taneli Reponen (guitar), Albert Tokkola (bass) ja Iikka Snellman (drums), all from Oulu.

As a visiting vocalist you will also see Tony Kakko, who is known from Sonata Arctica. Säkenöivä! has had the opportunity to perform Sonata Arctica songs on festival stage and at concerts, and in 2024 the choir was also singing backgrounds for the album Clear Cold Beyond. The ROCK concert seemed like a natural place to ask Tony Kakko to make a brief visit.

This kind of arena concert of a choir has not been seen in Northern Finland before, and it is quite rare in the whole of Finland, too.

“We are making history in the northern music and culture scene. We have a wide repertoire and there is a fantastic rock spectacle coming up. The choir sounds wonderful. This is definitely something worth coming to see from afar also”, sums up the leader Samuli Kakko.

Säkenöivä! is a 47-member female choir founded in 2012. The choir has arranged multiple concerts and has gigged around Kemi and Sea-Lapland. Samuli Kakko has been leading the choir since last autumn. ROCK is the biggest concert of the choir yet.

ROCK is an all-family event. There is a separate bar area for full-aged adults. There are both seats and standing areas for the audience.

During the concert the restaurant Makia in Kemi Areena is open. It is also possible to book a table there and have dinner before the concert.

The tickets are now on sale at lippu.fi and at the Kemi Areena cafeteria, Kemi swimming hall cafeteria and at the lunch restaurant Makia in Tornio.
