Summer Night’s Dinner is part of the Oulu2026 Arctic Food Lab initiative and is organised in collaboration with Oulu Arts Night and Oulun Liikekeskus. The event is currently seeking additional content: food vendors, performers, artists and organisations are welcome to sign up and help create a memorable evening for the people of Oulu. Participation is free of charge, and registration is open until 30 June.

Partners already involved include OSAO, which will contribute expertise in horticulture as well as restaurant and catering services, the folk music group Rällä, and Oulun Maa- ja kotitalousnaiset. Arctic Food Lab Project Manager Niina Keränen encourages people to submit ideas with ease and without hesitation.

“Summer Night’s Dinner is a joyful celebration where food, culture and community come together. We want to offer an opportunity to take part in creating unique experiences – which is why we’re looking for bold, creative and engaging content ideas, as well as new contributors for the event,” says Keränen.

Programme and content can be proposed via the form available at: Summer Night’s Dinner

Towards Europe’s Longest Table

Tables will be set along Hallituskatu, in front of Snellman Park and Otto Karhi Park. Guests are invited to take a seat and enjoy their own selection of treats – whether it’s homemade food, dishes from on-site food vendors, or tapas picked up from local shops – the style is up to you. And as the event takes place near the parks, you can also enjoy the food and entertainment picnic-style on your own blanket. The event is open to all, free of charge, and suitable for all ages.

Summer Night’s Dinner is now being held for the third time. Last year, the event drew around 1,300 to 1,500 attendees. This year, the setup will be tested in a different section of Hallituskatu. The dinner will culminate next summer when a shared table stretching nearly one kilometre will be laid in celebration of the European Capital of Culture.
