Inspired by Oulu’s Summer Night’s Dinner, Raahe’s Long Table Dinner will be held for the second time on 14 August as part of Raahe’s Night of the Arts, a festival with more than 30 years of history.

Summer Night’s Dinner, created by Arctic Food Lab in Oulu, has inspired the launch of a similar community dining event in Raahe. After a successful pilot last year, Raahe’s Long Table Dinner returns for the second time as part of Raahe’s Night of the Arts. Both events are included in the official programme of Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture.
“This event is a wonderful example of how ideas and concepts developed through Oulu2026 are taking on new local forms across the European Capital of Culture region,” says Johanna Rautio, Oulu2026 Coordinator for the City of Raahe.
On Friday, 14 August, from 5 pm to 10 pm, long tables will be set along Rantatori Market Square waterfront, inviting everyone to enjoy good company, local flavours and the atmosphere of a late summer evening. The event is organised by Visit Raahe.
“Last year’s event was a great success, so we definitely wanted to bring it back. This year, nearly 20 food vendors will be taking part, offering everything from salmon soup, burgers and spring rolls to traditional sultsina pastries, churros, pancakes, bubble waffles and mocktails. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnic. We’re looking forward to a relaxed summer evening with music and dance performances,” says Jenna Lämsä, coordinator of the event.
Night of the Arts fills Raahe with culture
Raahe’s Long Table Dinner is one of the highlights of Raahe’s Night of the Arts. Coordinated by the city’s Cultural Services for more than three decades, the annual city festival invites residents and visitors alike to experience Raahe’s vibrant cultural scene.
This year’s programme includes among others guided walking tours, artist talks, art workshops, exhibitions and live music. The city’s museums and designer Ritva-Liisa Pohjalainen’s anniversary exhibition will also stay open later than usual.
