Midnight Sun Run Oulu invites creators, partners, and experience-makers to help build the first midnight sun running event in Oulu in summer 2026. You can take part in many ways besides running through culture, collaboration, and shared creation.
On July 4th 2026, we run under the midnight sun, surrounded by art and culture in Oulu. Midnight Sun Run Oulu is a new running event that combines sports, culture and northern nature in a unique way. 10 km, 21 km ja 42 km The routes take runners through Oulu’s seaside views, past city landmarks, art and cultural spots. After the run, the journey continues to the AfterRun event, where participants can relax, eat and have fun under the midnight sun.
The heart of the event is Nallikari, a well-known seaside area in Oulu, which serves as the start and finish area as well as the home of the AfterRun event.
But Midnight Sun Run Oulu is not just a running event. It is a shared experience built from many different ways to take part.
Cultural content along the route
We are looking for cultural content and experiential installations along the route that bring atmosphere, surprises, and a unique character to the course.
You can propose, for example, a performance, artwork, installation, or a completely new way to meet runners along the route.

Volunteering at the heart of the event
As a volunteer, you get to go behind the scenes of Midnight Sun Run Oulu and become part of the event team. There are tasks available in event preparation, on event day, and during the take-down phase.
No previous event or volunteering experience is required. The most important thing is a positive attitude and a willingness to be part of creating a great summer event.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

As a partner in building the first Midnight Sun Run Oulu
MSRO is looking for companies, organisations, and creative professionals who are inspired by sports, culture, and experiences, and who want to be part of a new event concept and the Cultural Capital year.
As a partner, you are part of an event that brings together local and international participants and audiences. Collaboration can be visible at the event area, along the route, in cultural content, at AfterRun, or as part of event communications.

Sales spots at the event area and AfterRun
The Nallikari event area and AfterRun area form the main meeting point of Midnight Sun Run Oulu, where runners, visitors, and locals spend time together.
A limited number of sales spots are available near the start and finish area as well as at the AfterRun area. The spots are suitable for food, beverage, and experience providers who want to be part of the summer night atmosphere and event flow.
