University of Oulu takes part in creating an unforgettable European Capital of Culture year 2026
During the year 2026, the traditional events organized each year at the university will have new cultural dimensions and they will be opened up to a wider audience. We will also launch entirely new events combining science and culture.
In 2026, the Linnanmaa and Kontinkangas campuses will host, among other things, cultural lunches, after-work film nights, concerts and plays as well as changing art exhibitions and art tours. In addition to these ongoing programs, the University also organizes larger events focused on science and science education, internationality, and university collaboration. These events also emphasize cultural dimensions. The year 2026 will be full of experiences! The University of Oulu will play a key role in building a collaborative and diverse culture programme open to all. The offering of events related to the year 2026 at the University of Oulu will be updated on this page: oulu.fi/en/oulu2026
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
In 2026, we want to enliven the University of Oulu’s campuses with events, showcase the diverse cultural and scientific experiences of our international community, increase encounters between our multidisciplinary scientific community and city residents, and bring culture closer to the everyday life of our university community. The events are aimed at citizens of all ages, tourists, students, staff, alumni and partners of the university.
