Pöhönä 2026
Lively market and cultural event “Pöhönä 2026” for all ages continues and renews a local tradition.
The word ’Pöhönä’ refers to a local fishing gear for perches. At the Pöhönä 2026 event, you can meet people and enjoy the village culture and the nature of the Perämeri seaside area. The event focuses on fishing, perch and the food culture, discussions and stories, music, and local crafts and other products. The Varjakka fish harbor area of Lumijoki with its old sheds and the Hailuoto ship – serving as a café – offer the event an environment that exudes local history.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
Pöhönä 2026, with its genuine ambiance of a local village event, boldly reaches out ‘from the edge’. In the event, we enjoy and become aware of our local culture, the belonging to a certain place and the relationship between the human and the nature. The event brings a fresh northern dimension to the distinctive and picturesque cultures of European seaside villages. The theme of perch brings to the fore the changing relationship between the nature and the human, fishing as a profession and as recreation of ice fishing, as well as local food culture and its transformation into ‘street food’.
