Light/Dark Matters, a program of lightart and culture
The Finnish Light Art Society brings to Oulu the fifth edition of the exciting FLASH biennale, which highlights the pinnacle of Finnish light art and new artists. The inspiring program ensemble invites you to dive into the cultural meanings of light.
We bring to Oulu high-quality light art content and attractive content of light in many formats. The public can enjoy FLASH5 biennial exhibition and lectures, writings and workshops related to it.
Program is an invitation to all learn more about light art, its evaluation, curating and writing about it. At the same time, it makes you think whether the extreme variations of northern light and darkness could have a special value? How has it been coped with before, and could we maybe learn something from that for the future? Light is everywhere – it hides in shadows, dances in reflections and shapes every surface of the world.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
The Finnish Light Art Society enlivens the city by a high-quality light art exhibition. The meeting of art, science and technology is universally interesting and hot. We encourage cross-border, curious and courageous collaboration, as well as to exchange and further development of new perspectives and ideas arising from it. The importance and use of artificial and natural light is a big ecological, aesthetic, economical, ethical and ergonomic question of the future. Awareness and understanding of the cultural significance of light is a prerequisite for a sustainable future.
