Kuhmo’s 56th Chamber Music Festival in the Spotlight of Europe in 2026
The 2026 Kuhmo Chamber Music will be in the Spotlight of Europe. The festival will be held on July 12-25, 2026. The programme will include 60 concerts, around 300 compositions, which will be performed by over 100 international artists.
The highlights of the Festival will include three commissioned works by composers living in Finland. The themes of the works will come from the Oulu2026 themes.
Composer Krishna Nakaraja will compose a quartet based on the theme Brave Hinterland and composer Cecilia Damström a wind quintet based on theme Wild City. The theme of the third composition will be Cool Contrasts – the name of the composer and details of the composition will be published in 2025.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
Cultural climate change is courage to make culture in your own way – to be original, current, international, high-level and renewed every year. Kuhmo has been doing this work for 55 years and we want to continue on that path. We are boldly on the edge of Eastern Finland, on the Russian border, and from there we make one of Finland’s most international events. We connect the international networks of the festival for the whole Oulu2026 cooperation in the festival’s 60 concerts and its more than 300 works with the strength of more than 100 artists and over 250 staff members.
