Kinosalonki Sofia – Movies and art experiences in historical coastal town of Raahe
Between 1937 and 2011, a movie theater called Bio Huvimylly operated in the heart of old town Raahe. Cultural association Bio Huvimylly was born out of love for that theater. Our purpose is to revive and consolidate Raahe’s new film theater culture.
Our base is Kinosalonki Sofia at Reiponkatu 35. We organize film screenings and film education, cherish and record local film history, create a low-threshold sense of community, appreciate art and culture.
In addition to the event/exhibition hall, the building has a cafe/bar, a movie poster gallery/exhibition space and a shop for Sofia’s products. Kinosalonki’s community garden comes to life in summer, and Kinosalonki itself is an atmospheric space for small cultural events and concerts all year round.
Our impact to Culture-
