Festival of Augmented Dance & Oulu Dance Hack
Dance and technology combine for a new festival that showcases Oulu as a focal point for international performance innovation.
Festival of Augmented Dance – the first European festival dedicated to fusing together dance and technology takes place over four days in November 2026. The programme features innovative ways in which new technology can add layers to a dance performance, with an overall theme of Human Connections. The festival includes performances created locally and invited international shows. One of the main productions is a large-scale outdoor video projection created in collaboration with over 1000 local participants. A large-scale Oulu Dance Hack – targeted at professionals – is organised alongside the festival. Festival events take place in Oulu Theatre, Valve and other pop-up locations.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
By combining dance and technology, the Festival of Augmented Dance offers new ways for people to discover dance as an art form. The performances shown as part of the festival are created by a diverse group including technology specialists and businesses, members of the community alongside professional artists. Oulu Dance Hack encourages cross-sector collaboration and creative thinking that arises from the meeting of people from different backgrounds. New technologies are also used to increase access to the festival programme.
