A maritime art experience opens to the public as artist Sanna Anttonen presents the “Ode to Maritime Oulu” art room at Original Sokos Hotel Arina on Sunday, May 17.
The unique art hotel room Ode to Maritime Oulu, located at Original Sokos Hotel Arina, will open to the public on Sunday, May 17 from 4–6 PM. During this time, the artist behind the work, Sanna Anttonen, will be present to introduce the room and its artistic concept.
The room has been created in collaboration with the Oulu-based KaikuArt as part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture year. The concept design of the room was by Inka Leskinen. The artwork highlights Oulu’s maritime character in an immersive, multi-sensory way. At the heart of the room is a striking floor installation that creates the illusion of a living, reflective sea surface.
During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist, hear about the creation of the work, and experience the space in a unique, guided atmosphere. The event is open to everyone and free of charge.

The room is open to the public throughout the year on Sundays of even-numbered weeks from 4–6 PM as part of the Abstract Sensory Journey, a multi-sensory art experience created within the hotel premises. During these times, the room can be explored independently. Materials for the Abstract Sensory Journey are available at the hotel reception.
