The beloved metal band Sentenced will be celebrated in a unique audiovisual experience, combining Acoustenced’s live music, excerpts from The Master of Melancholy – Miika Tenkula, and evocative photography.

This multidisciplinary performance offers an opportunity to pause and immerse yourself in the music, story and imagery of the beloved band Sentenced in a way that goes beyond the traditional concert experience. Music, text and photographs interact with one another to create an atmospheric whole in which Sentenced’s melancholic compositions are given a new acoustic interpretation.
“We want to offer people the opportunity to slow down and immerse themselves fully in Sentenced’s music and story. A seated audience in a concert hall setting is perfect for this,” says author Nefertiti Malaty.
The performance premiered at Logomo in Turku in January 2025. Now it returns to Sentenced’s roots in Northern Finland.
Acoustenced was born in 2023, when Janne Heinonen and Make Pöyhönen filmed an acoustic version of No One There at the grave of Sentenced guitarist Miika Tenkula in Muhos. The video was uploaded to YouTube and eventually led to a performance at the launch of Melankolian mestari – Miika Tenkula, followed by a year-long tour across Finland.
Acoustenced’s acoustic arrangements particularly highlight the melody and melancholy of Tenkula’s compositions. Sentenced in Words, Images and Music takes this idea a step further by combining the music with literary and visual storytelling.
The performance will take place at Koivu ja Tähti Hall in Muhos on Saturday, 14 November, and at Valve Hall in Oulu on Sunday, 15 November. The performances are part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme, and this will be the final opportunity to experience the work.
