Walking within the Frame
The swamp is the borderland of human power, a field of negotiations, encounters and confrontation. This performance invites you on a sensory journey into the depths: who leads, and how are relations
of power renegotiated when the swamp, the smartphone, and the walker encounter?
SWAMP – Walking within the Frame is a site sensitive performance combining nature and technology, set in the Sanginjoki Nature Reserve, where the peatlands are being restored, one shovel at a time.
The journey begins at Cultural Centre Valve with a shared bus ride to Sanginjoki, where participants continue through the swamp and forest accompanied by a smartphone – sometimes alone, sometimes together. The performance ends back at Valve and lasts approximately four hours. More information can be found in the Oulu2026 event calendar. Timetables and tickets: click here.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
The work forges new connections between technology, humans, and nature, while raising critical
questions about environmental politics in the North. As part of a larger Nordic artistic project, it
explores new ways of engaging with climate and ecological issues through embodied experience.
