Stories in the Air is a pole dance and aerial acrobatics production, performed at Cultural Centre Valve on 14 June 2026 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. The event is organized by Tankotaivas, a fitness and dance center based at the Hiukkavaara Cultural Centre.

On the second weekend of June during the European Capital of Culture year, audiences will get to enjoy pole dance and aerial acrobatics at events organized by Tankotaivas!
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10:00–17:15, the event Pole Dancing for Everyone will take place. The goal of the event is to make it possible for anyone to try pole dancing, regardless of age, gender, or physical fitness level. You can book your tickets for the trial classes via following link:

The following day, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 15:00–16:00, audiences will be invited to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the work Stories in the Air.
Tankotaivas’ Oulu26 team — Miia Haanpää, Saija Pelkonen, Krista Kailasuo, Sara Lepistö, Miia Mahlakaarto, Mirka Jutila, Tanja Schroderus-Salo, Maiju Salmi, Anna-Maija Huoviala, and Rauha Wittenberg — will guide you on a unique journey to the core of humanity. Music, dance, interpretation, and movement come together to tell a story that words cannot capture. On stage, roses are not merely flowers — they symbolize love, pain, hope, and life. Every step and every movement reflects layers of humanity: joy, loss, longing, and connection.
The main purpose of Tankotaivas’ events is to dispel prejudices surrounding pole dance and to spread awareness of the diverse styles within the art form.
The Tankotaivas Oulu26 team is now enthusiastically beginning its spring training period in preparation for the Stories in the Air event! <3
