What is a CultureCompanion?

Culture Companion2026 is a volunteer who can join you at cultural events. If attending alone feels difficult, a Culture Companion can make the experience easier and more enjoyable. 
Culture Companion2026 is also a welcoming community for people who want to meet others, share cultural experiences, and try new things!

You can apply for a volunteer Culture Companion2026 to attend an event with you. Choose an event from the list below and contact us. This service is for residents of the Oulu2026 region. 

The Culture Companion2026 programme is available in: 
Alavieska, Haapavesi, Kajaani, Kuhmo, Kuusamo, Oulu, Oulainen, Sievi, and Ylivieska. 

Good to know

Culture Companions2026 support people who may find it difficult to attend cultural events on their own. Culture Companions are volunteers who will go to the event with you and share the experience. 

When attending an event with a Culture Companion2026, you only pay for your own ticket. If the event is free, you don’t pay anything. The Culture Companion2026 programme itself is always free. 
The programme is available for anyone aged 18 or older. 

You can apply for a Culture Companion2026 for any free event listed on this page. For paid events, we will check whether participation with a volunteer Culture Companion2026 is possible. You can also suggest an event you would like to attend. 

We will do our best to find a suitable volunteer Culture Companion2026 for you. 

To take part, you should be able to move and act independently or with the help of your personal assistant.

2. Let us know your contact details and which events you’d like to attend and when. If you are unsure, contact us and we can help you find interesting events.
3. Once you have submitted your information we will match you with a Culture Companion and confirm all the details!

Find events

CultureCompanions are operating in the following cities and munincipalities: Alavieska, Haapavesi, Kajaani, Kuhmo, Kuusamo, Oulu, Oulainen, Sievi ja Ylivieska. When you apply, please suggest 1-3 events that you are interested in. The suggested events should start no earlier than two weeks from applying.
