Dálvemánnu
Dálvemánnu brings together Sámi artists and cultural workers from a wide northern region in the beginning of February. There are events, art and networks for both the Sámi and the majority population. One of the highlights is the celebration of the Sámi National Day on 6 February.
Translated into English, the North Sámi word dálvemánnu is the winter month. Traditionally, the Sámi year had 12 full months and a half month, for a total of 13 months. One of them was called dálvemánnu or gáranasmánnu. Now dálvemánnu takes on a new meaning as a gathering of diverse events organized by many different parties.
