Joining walls – community art workshops
Community art workshops that combine textile art and dance.
We invite the people of Oulu to participate in a three day workshop where they get to zoom in their everyday surroundings in the cultural capital. These workshops are a part of a bigger artistic production, Moving Blooming Walls, that will premiere in 2026.
You get to make three dimensional textile art by painting recycled fabric and sewing. When ready, these textile art reliefs will be joint to the performance. All works created in the workshops can be returned to the people who made them after the performances. No previous experience in textile is required, we will teach you all you need to know. You are welcome to participate in all three of the workshops or just some of them.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
Our Joining Walls workshops are building a more community based atmosphere in Oulu. During the textile art process we discuss about the public spaces of the cultural capital, it’s surfaces, our everyday surroundings and how we relate to all of these aspects as individuals. We encourage the participants to see the city from a new perspective and to see it’s potential for new kinds of activities. This communal artistic process is building a long term cultural climate change in Oulu.
