Finest Vegetarian Food in Europe
Free-of-charge school food is an important shared experience for Finns. Young people in Oulu and Kajaani have designed school meals for themselves to enjoy during the European Capital of Culture year.
Youth in Oulu and Kajaani got to design a climate-friendly vegetarian recipe. The finest vegetarian food in Europe will be enjoyed in nearly all school and municipal daycare centres in Oulu and Kajaani in the spring of 2026. The school meal designed by Oulu’s youth will be served in connection with the Capital of Culture Opening Ceremony on January 16. The meal designed in Kaajani will be served on Europe Day, May 8. The recipes created by youth in cooperation with professionals will concretely bring the Capital of Culture onto the plates of tens of thousands of children and teenagers.
