University of Oulu’s 2026 culture programme includes many types of events throughout the whole year. In addition to events, there are and will be various types of art exhibitions as well. You are warmly welcome to explore these exhibitions!

Exhibitions at the University of Oulu during the spring 2026
The Matkan alku siipien alla [Beginning of the journey under wings] art installation created by child groups of the open daycare LASTU invite a visitor to relax and view the art made by children in the Tellus Linnanmaa Nest area with comfortable bean bags to sit on. This artwork made from recycled material is freely accessible until 6.3.2026 during the campus opening hours.
Youth against Racism: Voices for change is a of the Kastelli and Norssi schools’ 7th grade students’ journey from identifying challenges to imagining digital tools that create safer and more welcoming communities. The exhibition is freely accessible in the Tellus Linnanmaa lobby area between 2.-26.2026 during the campus opening hours.
Raittijärvi – Village of Kaijukka – Photo exhibtion is photographer Jyrki Kallio-Koski’s homage to the people of the sámi village Raittijärvi and their way of life. The photo exhibition showcases the everyday life of the village and the passing down of the reindeer‑herding community’s way of life across more than 40 years. The exhibition is freely accessible on Virransilta at the Linnanmaa campus during campus opening hours between 2.-28.2.2026. Alongside the exhibition, there will be a joik performance by Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso on 23.2. at 6 pm. Admission to the performance is free.
You can also dive into the art by yourself via SmartCanvas art installation. With this interactive installation, the audience can take pictures of themselves and edit those with various filters and visit through the pictures in different sceneries in Oulu. The exhibition is freely accessible in front of the Tellus Linnanmaa’s Aspire space every day from 10:00 to 14:00 between 23.- 27.2.2026.
Experience also the Ribbons of Growth, a powerful artwork created by the teacher education students! This art installation was born communally as a part of merging teaching and creativity. The installation, composed of hand-dyed three-meter-long ribbons, invites viewers to reflect on growth, connection and learning. The work is freely accessible in the central lobby of the Linnanmaa campus during campus opening hours throughout spring 2026. Please note that large events on the campus may affect accessibility.
Do you want to bring your own touch to the exhibitions?
Registration for the Light and Shadows exhibition’s workshops is currently open. In the workshops held during March–April, participants will create art lamps that will be displayed in an art‑lamp exhibition organized in November–December 2026 on the Linnanmaa campus, Kemiankatu (F‑corridor). Registering for the workshops is open to anyone interested, but please note that they have limited space and that they are conducted only in Finnish.
You can also take part in creating the Window magnet love poem at the Linnanmaa campus. The artwork, produced by Tapiiri ry, the art circle of the Oulu University and the Oulu University of Applied sciences, invites viewers to join in making an ever‑changing piece of verbal art, where anyone can let their inner poet run free. The art piece is in the Väylä hallway on the Linnanmaa campus near Tellus, and it is freely accessible throughout 2026 during the campus’ opening hours. Please note that large events on the campus may affect access to the artwork.
