Sirkka-ballet
Sirkka is a dark ballet exploring fear, destiny and a woman´s inner struggle between submission and strenght through powerful contrasts.
Sirkka is a dark full-length ballet about a woman struggling with societal pressures, anxieties, and inner conflicts. The ballet is produced by the Oulu-based multidisciplinary ballet production group Tenho, which boldly renews the ballet genre by bringing a unique Oulu touch to it. The story is inspired by the praying mantis, which is delicate and fragile, but at the same time an effective predator and beast. Sirkka is a story about fear and anxiety, about the struggle within a person between submission and defence. The audience becomes part of the work’s message: We have light, we have darkness, we have strength.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
The Tenho production team consists of a diverse group of dance professionals and experienced enthusiasts, united by strong expertise and genuine passion for what they do. At the heart of the group’s activities is the desire to question the established forms of ballet and bring forward new perspectives. For us, the most important thing is the meaning of dance for people – not background or traditions, but the power and experience of movement.
