Rainbow Magic
Tatu Vuolteenaho and Jani Maunula’s exhibition at Ylivieska Cultural Center Akustiika in August 2026
The exhibition features Tatu Vuolteenaho’s Eye-Leen self-portraits and Queer Witches portraits. Tatu has met members of the rainbow community who practice spirituality and magic in several different countries and painted portraits of them.
Textile artist Jani Maunula has designed printed fabrics from Tatu’s paintings, which will be used to build an immersive skirt installation in the exhibition space. The same fabrics will also be used to make performance costumes, which will be on display in the exhibition.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
The Rainbow Magic project aims to transform the cultural climate by highlighting the spiritual and artistic heritage of members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially the value of femininity and alternative lifestyles. The works break down norms, strengthen diversity and highlight community instead of competition. The project creates space for a more empathetic, inclusive and pluralistic cultural field.
