The opening of the new Children’s Cultural Centre Kotilo will be celebrated at the beginning of the Oulu Capital of Culture year on 16-18 January 2026. The Centre offers diverse, high-quality and changing children’s cultural content.
Kotilo’s activities are mainly aimed at children under 12, their families and groups in schools and early childhood education. People of all ages are welcome to visit Kotilo’s exhibitions. At Kotilo, children and families can enjoy and play, experience and explore art. The experimental exhibitions show a wide range of art forms. The new centre will also bring media arts to Oulu’s children’s culture, alongside the traditional literary art and film education. Kotilo is an accessible, safe and imaginative place to meet, be inspired and make art.
Our impact to Culture-
climate change
Cultural climate change starts with children and young people. The project brings together general cultural services and early childhood services to find solutions for developing creativity, learning through culture and raising the profile of children’s culture in Europe. The new Children’s Cultural Centre will offer children’s cultural content that will attract both locals and tourists. One of the elements of the project is to show children’s own art as part of the Children’s Cultural Centre.
