Oulu Music Video Festival’s international competition is now open to music video makers from around the world

As part of Oulu2026, Oulu Music Video Festival (OMVF) launched its first international competition in 2025, open to entries from the Nordic countries. In 2026, the competition expanded to include entries from across Europe, and in 2027, the festival will launch the worldwide OMVF International Music Video Competition.
Early bird submissions are now open, and filmmakers from around the world can submit videos. Submissions and further information: https://filmfreeway.com/OMVF.
A pre-selection jury will select 15 music videos from the submissions to be screened on the big screen at the festival. The selected works will compete for the title of Best International Music Video 2027.
The winner will be chosen by an independent jury of industry professionals. The winner will be announced at the festival’s legendary awards ceremony, the Pumpeligala, and the director of the best video will receive a pair of Genelec 8341A SAM™ monitors, provided by Genelec and valued at approximately €5,200. The jury will also award one honourable mention.
The 2026 international competition received 161 entries from nine countries. As part of the competition’s launch, OMVF organised international music video events in cities including Tbilisi, Berlin, London, Rome and Oslo. The 2027 competition will also be promoted through international music video events.
OMVF has organised its Finnish music video competition since 1994. Submissions for the Finnish competition will open separately in late 2026.
Oulu Music Video Festival will take place in Oulu, Finland, from 26 to 29 August 2027.
