In the Waning Light III opens the multidisciplinary weekend of Oulainen Music Weeks, which brings not only dance but also environmental art, exhibitions, light, fire and music to Oulainen.
The multidisciplinary arts weekend of Oulainen Music Weeks opens on Friday at Soihtula with a dance performance. In the Waning Light III is an installation-like stage work by choreographer Milla Koistinen and sound designer Paul Valikoski.
Originally from Oulainen and Haapavesi, Koistinen is currently based between Berlin and Helsinki. The approximately 30-minute work presented in Oulainen is an installation developed by Koistinen and Valikoski from their original piece.
The work draws on embodied observation in nature and explores themes of departure, disappearance and letting go. It creates a space for concentration and slowing down, inviting the audience to open themselves to sensory experiences. The piece explores what can be brought into a theatre space from nature and the experience of sensing it. An ornithological perspective also introduces observations from the world of birds.
