Unfolding 15–25 Oct at AaltoSiilo, INTER-FACE:ing redefines luxury through kinetic art & VR experience. Taiwanese artist collective LuxuryLogico is joined by Finnish artists Lau Nau and Oulu-based TaikaBox to fuse technology, sound and live movement.

What is luxury on a planet under pressure and in a world of multiple crises?

Time. Nature. Human connection. Ecological symbiosis. Freedom.

From 15–25 October 2026, INTER-FACE:ing LuxuryLogico brings the work of Taiwanese artist collective LuxuryLogico into the distinctive architectural, historical and ecological context of AaltoSiilo in Oulu. Through six kinetic—three physical installations and three immersive VR experiences—and artistic encounters involving Finnish artist and musician Lau Nau and Oulu-based TaikaBox, the exhibition explores how humans sense and relate to a world increasingly mediated by technology and shaped by multiple crises, while asking what we might come to value beyond material consumption.

Presented as part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme, the exhibition places LuxuryLogico’s practice in direct dialogue with AaltoSiilo, the former industrial silo in Oulu’s Toppila district designed by Alvar Aalto. In 2026, Aalto Works, a series of thirteen architectural sites, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Rather than simply an exhibition venue, AaltoSiilo becomes an active bridge between past and present, technology and environment, individual perception and collective memory.

Here, an interface is more than a technological device or screen. The human body is an interface; architecture can be an interface. So can the space between different histories, environments and cultures. The “-ing” emphasises these interfaces as active sites of encounter and transformation.

“We increasingly experience the world through technological interfaces, yet our existence remains fundamentally embodied. In Buddhist thought, perception unfolds through six faculties—eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and mind—and their corresponding fields: form, sound, smell, taste, touch and mental phenomena. This reminds us that our relationship with the world has always taken place through acts of sensing and encounter. For me, an interface is therefore not simply a screen or a boundary, but a place where bodies, environments, technologies, histories and cultures meet, affect one another, and continuously come into being. The ‘-ing’ matters because these relationships are never complete; they are perpetually in flux.”— Shuchen Wang, curator

Across three physical installations and three VR works, the exhibition moves from histories embedded in landscape towards speculative forms of more-than-human existence. The Past Is a Foreign Country evokes industrial history and its traces in air, soil, water and forests; Accord-Désaccord considers changing relationships between communities and their environments; Rain Haze II transforms marine debris into a meditation on consumption and the fragile condition of Earth; Solar XI confronts an artificial sun with a gaze increasingly drawn towards digital screens; Wind Field II creates a data-driven simulacrum of a natural force imagined from a future in which it has disappeared; and Space 201 envisions humanity evolving alongside emerging forms of life in resonance with light, sound and cosmic energy.

For LuxuryLogico member Genghua Chang, The Past Is a Foreign Country brings the encounter between Taiwan and Finland into questions of history and memory: “Through the symbols of tar, forest and the shadow of a sphere of light, the work confronts colonial memory within the geopolitical contexts of Taiwan and Finland, using light and sound to reconfigure memory and create a dialogue with the viewer.”

The Taiwan-Finland encounter continues through artistic collaboration and response. Lau Nau contributes to the musical dimension of The Past Is a Foreign Country, while Oulu-based TaikaBox presents a live performance at the finissage in response to LuxuryLogico’s works, bringing human movement into dialogue with technology and kinetic systems.

Founded in Taipei in 2010, LuxuryLogico works across art, science and technology, creating kinetic and multimedia environments where human, machinic and ecological systems meet. At AaltoSiilo, its practice enters a new architectural and cultural context through the curator’s concept of the techno-ecological interface: a relational approach through which perception and agency continually emerge.

Beyond material consumption lies another logic. In a time of ecological pressure and multiple crises, INTER-FACE:ing LuxuryLogico asks us to reconsider what luxury might mean—not as possessing more, but as recovering the capacity to relate differently: time, nature, human connection, ecological symbiosis and freedom.
