The autumn colours are coming to Syöte National Park! Soon, the fells will glow in shades of yellow, orange and red. Experience the unique Glimpses (Välähdyksiä) outdoor art exhibition surrounded by the stunning beauty of northern nature.

Art where the stories were born
Part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme, Glimpses (Välähdyksiä) is a unique outdoor art exhibition at the top of Iso-Syöte, surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of Syöte National Park. Seven artists with strong connections to the Syöte region bring their works directly into nature – to the very environment that has inspired their subjects, moods and stories.
The works of Katariina Kuukasjärvi, Sinikka Tasala, Arja Äikäs, Teija Soini, Tiina Törmänen, Sami Säily and Marjo Koskenkorva invite visitors to discover moments, movement and the quiet power of northern nature. The exhibition features paintings, photographs and graphic art, all given a unique setting: the fell landscape of Syöte.
Here, gallery walls have been replaced by the fell landscape. Art can be admired right in the heart of the spectacular nature of Syöte National Park – in one of Finland’s most impressive exhibition settings.
Every step is an experience among the Autumn colours
Autumn gives Syöte a special atmosphere. As the autumn colours spread across the fells and the forests burst into vibrant shades, the landscape changes day by day. This is when Glimpses (Välähdyksiä) is at its most captivating – the artworks and surrounding nature come together to create an experience that looks and feels slightly different every time you visit.
You can experience the exhibition in whichever way suits you best. Set off on a hike along the fell trail and take your time discovering the artworks. Jump on a mountain bike and combine art with an unforgettable cycling experience in Syöte. Or take the new Iso-Syöte Express chairlift to the summit and enjoy breathtaking views unfolding around you as you ascend.
At the top, both art and one of Syöte’s most impressive landscapes await.
Seven artists, dozens of works, one unique setting
Välähdyksiä is located along a few-hundred-metre-long fell trail at the top of Iso-Syöte. The exhibition invites visitors to pause, look both near and far, and discover the dialogue between art and the surrounding landscape.
As your gaze moves from the artworks to the national park around you, it becomes clear how closely the two are connected. The works are rooted in northern nature, life and people – surrounded by the very landscape that has inspired the artists.
Välähdyksiä is open every day until 18 October 2026, regardless of the time of day, and admission is free. Nature, of course, keeps its own exhibition open every day of the year.
