4 day series to launch of the “scores for visitors” in September at the Organum.
The Hailuoto Organum is a public acoustic sculpture located on the island of Hailuoto, 60km from Oulu, now connected by a bridge.
It was built 2014 by sculptor Lukas Kühne with the ‘Hai Art’ arts organisation. Visited by thousands since, the potential of the raw sculpture is wild, subtle and stunning.
‘scores for visitors’ undertook research, experimental performance practice and experience gathering of what is possible within this sculpture and its location.
The output will be a very simple, usable collection of instructions on how to commit to, walk and “play” the Organum.
Future visitors, groups of travelers, artists and art seekers can use these scores to prepare a visit and be inspired to express within the art space.
Workshop technologies focused on acoustic resonance, awareness, history, the inter-generational body, multiplicity of voice(s), listening, playing, sonic memory, instrument building, psychology and vibration took place to develop these instructions.
An event series with concerts and interventions combines the research into the Organum festival in 2026.
‘scores for visitors’ will be presented at a multi-day festival series of events in September 2026.
