President Alexander Stubb will open Oulu’s European Capital of Culture year at the Opening Festival on Friday, 16 January 2026 at 4pm. The opening moment includes speeches, music by Saara Aalto, Screaming Men’s Chour, performances and more!
Oulu10 & Liepaja2027, live from 5-7pm:
Oulu10 at Torikatu will transform this weekend into a summery oasis in the middle of winter, welcoming festival-goers on behalf of next year’s European Capital of Culture, the Latvian city Liepāja2027!
Restaurant Pekuri, 5 – 6:30pm:
Live from Restaurant Pekuri, Oulu2026-region present their programme, variety of dance and music, and live gig by Blinks.
Saturday 17th
Hockey from the Market Square, 2-4 pm:
Casual outdoor hockey with youngsters and legendary players, boosted by DJ.
Oulu10 & Liepaja2027, 12-5:15 pm:
The Oulu10 programme offers a variety of programme; choir performances, a senior disco and “man ballet”.
Restaurant Pekuri, 11am -6:30pm
Pekuri stage offers poetry, folk music and a string quartet from Oulu and Oulu2026-region!
