You are warmly invited to join the celebrations for International Volunteer Day in Oulu at Valkea’s Kesäkatu on 5 December from 16:00 to 19:00, and in Kajaani at Café Mokka from 16:00 to 17:30!
This special day highlights the diverse and meaningful work that volunteers do, celebrates their contributions, and raises awareness of how important volunteering is for our communities.
“Volunteers are the true treasure of Oulu2026 – the European Capital of Culture. Their dedication and energy make culture more accessible to everyone,” says Project Manager Anna Litewka-Anttolainen.
“The International Volunteer Day also reminds us that every volunteer plays a part in shaping a new cultural climate,” she adds.
Event in Oulu – Valkea Kesäkatu, 5 December, 16:00–19:00
The Oulu event offers a lively and inspiring look into the world of volunteering:
- Volunteer interviews and cultural performances
- Info sessions from organisations presenting different volunteering opportunities
Throughout the event, volunteers Culture Companion2026 welcome everyone to stop by for a chat, co-create a wish list for Oulu2026 events, and enjoy a spirit of community over a cup of coffee. Free coffee will be served on the Coffee House terrace next to the Kesäkatu stage.
Young visitors can enjoy activities at the Nurkka youth space: a fun Photo Booth hosted by Vuolle volunteers, the flag game, a collaborative community artwork, and the City of Oulu’s inspiring Words & Worlds creative word session. The multicultural j-pop dance group Komachi will also perform.
Vuolle’s friendly mascots will be there to spread joy to everyone!
