Original Sokos Hotel Arina is contributing to the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture program with the Abstract Sensory Journey, created in collaboration with the Oulu-based art company KaikuArt. This is a multi-sensory art experience inspired by the Wall of Happiness – over 1,400 responses from the people of Oulu to the question: What makes you happy? These answers have shaped different points of the artwork placed inside the hotel, making visible the sources of happiness in Oulu.

“Our most important mission is to bring happiness – creating small and large experiences for our guests. The Abstract Sensory Journey is our opportunity to make this visible through art and to be part of building the Oulu2026 cultural year,”
says Päivi Kaarlela, Hotel Manager at Original Sokos Hotel Arina.

KaikuArt is an Oulu-based art company run by mother and daughter, Sanna Anttonen and Inka Leskinen.
“When you become aware of your sources of happiness, you can also increase them in your life. That’s why we find the creation of the Abstract Sensory Journey especially meaningful,”
notes artist Sanna Anttonen.

The Abstract Sensory Journey is part of the Oulu2026 program. In addition to hotel and conference guests, it is open to anyone interested in exploring happiness in Oulu. Read more about the Abstract Sensory Journey here.
