Unveiling Celebration of the Oulu2026 Mural in Toppila

A new mural will be completed in Toppila, Oulu, as part of the Oulu2026 cultural programme. The unveiling celebration will take place by the mural on Monday, 29 September, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the intersection of Mallastie and Laivameklarinpolku, address Mallastie 30.

Toppila won the city district vote, open to all residents of Oulu, to host the Oulu2026 mural in 2025. The work is created by Japanese visual artist Momo Yoshino, who uses optical illusion in her practice to activate the space between the artwork and the viewer.

At the unveiling event, Momo Yoshino and her assistant Marianne Kauppila will share insights into the creation process. Guests will also hear short remarks from Yiorgos Slunga, Art Coordinator at Upeart, Heli Metsäpelto, Community Manager at Oulu2026 and Katariina Kemppainen, Curator at the Oulu Art Museum.

Coffee, juice, and pastries will be served. Welcome to join us!
